The partnership with the Swiss Forest Climate Protection Association (WKSS) provides access to approximately 13.5% of Switzerland’s forest area and strengthens Pina Earth’s portfolio of verified CO₂ credits from European forests.

Munich / Dornbirn / Waldenburg, April 2026 – Pina Earth, Europe’s leading tech platform for certified forest climate protection projects, and WKSS (Wald-Klimaschutz Schweiz), Switzerland’s largest organization for forest climate protection, are entering into a partnership. Going forward, Pina Earth will take over the marketing of WKSS’s climate protection projects and contribute international expertise to the further development of methodology, project certification, and sales. This will allow WKSS to focus more intensively on its core mission: representing the interests of Swiss forest owners and advancing national forest-based climate protection.

WKSS was founded in 2019 by forest owner associations with the support of the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and WaldSchweiz. The organization comprises over 6,000 forest owners with 40 forest climate protection projects—representing approximately 13.5% of Switzerland’s total forest area. Until now, WKSS has served simultaneously as a marketer, certifier, and advocate. The new division of responsibilities clarifies the roles: As an umbrella organization, WKSS assumes methodological leadership for nature-based solutions in Switzerland and strengthens advocacy at the federal and cantonal levels, as well as with other stakeholders. Pina Earth contributes the technological platform, international methodological expertise, and access to an established buyer network that includes companies such as Airbnb, Yello, and Celonis.

For corporate clients, the partnership means improved access to a broad, high-quality portfolio of regional Swiss CO₂ credits. All projects are certified according to international standards and are continuously refined. The majority of the proceeds go directly to forest owners and thus back into the forest: toward planting and protecting climate-resilient tree species, biodiversity measures, interventions to stabilize forest stands, or the creation of nature reserves.

"Swiss forests have enormous potential for European climate protection and have not been sufficiently tapped to date. In WKSS, we have found the strongest local partner to change that. Together, we can provide more forest owners with access to reliable CO₂ revenue while also offering regional companies high-quality CO₂ credits from Swiss forests."

Jodok Batlogg, Co-Founder & CEO, Pina Earth

"Our members have proven in recent years that Swiss forest-based climate protection works both ecologically and economically. What we need now is a partner who can take these projects to the next level with the right technology and the necessary distribution channels. With Pina Earth, we’ve found exactly that."

Simon Tschendlik, Managing Director, WKSS

This partnership is part of a growing market for nature-based solutions in Europe. Companies are increasingly seeking regional CO₂ credits with verifiable impact—a need that the fragmented supplier landscape has not yet fully met. The collaboration between Pina Earth and WKSS is another step toward consolidating the market and strengthens the DACH region’s position as a pioneer inthe EuropeanCO₂ market.
